Visits and Open Days
We regularly have open days at Direct Meats where we invite along a selection of chefs to tour our state of the art cutting plant at Chappel. This is usually followed by either a farm visit to where our beef cattle or sheep are raised, or a visit to Humphreys or C & K Meats abattoir where our animals are slaughtered. Another popular trip is to Dingley Dell where our superb pork is sourced from, lunch is often included, sometimes with other local specialist producers in attendance too.
Catering students from nearby Colchester Institute visit with their tutors, often students are taken to Humphreys or C & K Meats abattoir which has from time to time seen the students rather wary of what they will witness once there. However, each group have always been pleasantly surprised by the respect and careful handling our animals experience.
