A Million Bees in 2018

In partnership with Direct Meats and Martin Blackwell, farmers Paul & Mark Hayward aim to feed one million bumble bees this year on their farm in Suffolk.

The pig farmers have increased their wild flower planting in a bid to increase bee numbers now and in the future.

Modern life has pushed nature to the fringes  - the world knows we have a problem and farmers can play a major role in helping society restore a more favourable balance. This starts with a diversity of plants, if you have diversity then insects, bees mammals and birds will follow.

Our MD Martin Blackwell says, 'It is a privilege to be involved in helping to shape the way in which the pork we provide for our customers is produced. We only have one precious ecosystem and it is important that we contribute to help protect and enhance our bumblebees and natice species.
